The second match of this year’s fixtures was the Council Cup. Nine anglers attended and were greeted with a very cold easterly wind and bright sunshine (opposite to forecast – again!).
The match was won by Steve Johnson who fished a brilliant match on the long pole fishing pinkie over groundbait and despite hooking 3 pike early doors (getting one about 6lbs out) he ended with 11lb 12oz, which included a 2lbs 12oz perch from peg 10.
Second, today was Paul Hayden who persevered with his hard pellet approach for 9lbs 11ozs of decent skimmers from peg 8. Third place went to Terry Lancaster from peg 14 with 8lbs 2ozs of roach and the odd small skimmer.
So far from favourable conditions, the weights were again very reasonable. We look forward to seeing you all for the next match.
