The weather forecast prior to the match was not looking good at all. However, the weather was actually turned out better than we were expected and despite the recent rainfall and very strong winds, the weights were good.
The match was won by Dave Ridgeway from peg 16 with 11lb, consisting of skimmers on the feeder and a decent perch from under the tree to his right. After a couple of very lean years, its good to see Dave back in winning form – in fact he won the last match of 2018 also, can he make it three in a row? Time will tell!
Second place went to Steve Johnson, making a long-awaited return to this popular venue with 9lb 7oz of skimmers on pole caught on pinkie fished over groundbait from peg 10.
Third place went to Terry Lancaster who weighed 8lb 6oz of small roach coming to punch and pinkie from peg 15.
John Hewison (Match Secretary) managed to finish in fourth from peg 5 after ‘uping’ his feeding to weigh in 7lb 2oz, despite losing some decent fish on caster.
Fifth place fell to Ryan Hayden on peg 7 who managed 6lbs 12ozs of tiny bread caught roach after struggling to find any bream on the ‘feeder’ line.
